WHY ROBOTICS?

Children use computers in science and technology education to gather information, learn new material and solve problems.

Recent advances in computer technology have allowed for the design and development of robotic construction kits. Designing, building, and programming robots allow students to creatively explore computer programming, mechanical design, physics, mathematics, motion, environmental factors, problem solving, and group collaboration.

Students are given ownership for their learning within an active, enjoyable, and non-threatening environment.

Robotics, as an educational tool, allows students to learn in an active, constructionist environment, building physical objects and experiencing abstract concepts in intentionally meaningful ways.

The opportunity to use robotics to stimulate learning and problem-solving offers children the possibility of realizing that computer technology extends beyond the reach of their desktops.
